KINDS OF LEARNING

• Learning that involves the release of our imagination, our "self", the development of an enquiring spirit, a caring, compassionate sensitivity and the development of the creative, expressive activity of our mind.
• Learning to order our experience, to reflect upon it critically, to describe it coherently and to deal with it rationally and creatively.
• Learning to be self-aware and to give expression to our own understanding of ourselves in relationship to others and our world.
• Learning to understand, manage and express our emotions and feelings in a constructive way.
• Learning to develop a sense of beauty and wonder about the world, hoping thereby to sensitize our mind to be ever responsive, joyful and alive.
• Learning to think imaginatively and creatively and to develop the ability to express ourselves competently in the oral and written medium, both in English and Hindi.
• Learning to learn i.e., acquiring lifelong tools of learning like reading, writing skills, numerical skills, gathering, analyzing and applying of information in meaningful, personally relevant ways and good reasoning and thinking skills.
• Learning to collaborate, work in groups, reflect on the critical problems of our times and to find creative, just solutions together.
• Learning to construct an integrated, just picture of reality, consisting of the world with ourselves and the others in it.
• Learning to think with a lens of democratic social justice that is with a lived understanding of the core principles of democracy – equality, fraternity and liberty.

DEMOCRATIC CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION

We envision sensitizing young impressionable minds to step out in the world with a clear picture of the ideals of democracy and a strong commitment to equality. All the lesson plans, critical dialogues/discussions, activities like the concert aim to empower the young learners and future leaders and policy makers with relevant knowledge and skills to mould their attitudes and behavior to exercise and defend their democratic rights and responsibilities as conscientious citizens to be change makers.

LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT

Language is a system of meanings or a symbol system which represents meaning. We believe that language development has a central role in learning. We help our children to gain an increasing control over language. We make a special effort to develop in our children an independent, creative expression in oral and written language. We encourage children to give a free expression to their ideas, thoughts, feelings, queries and fantasies in both English and Hindi. They thus become effective communicators and gain a sounder understanding of their own personal, social and physical worlds. Children are also helped to develop a grasp of the specific language of various disciplines like Math, the physical and living Sciences, and the Social sciences.
